This new size also has a special mission, to help the Cumbria Wildlife Trust create the highest nature reserve in England and regenerate the Skiddaw Forest.
The Cumbria Wildlife Trust have revealed their plans to create something utterly amazing for this cherished region of the Lake District National Park. Skiddaw Forest comprises of three thousand acres of upland heath and peatland fringed by the Northern Fells. Already a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation, the Trust have devised a 100-year vision to make Skiddaw Forest thrive once more by restoring the landscape, safeguard our historic, natural heritage and creating a haven for wildlife.
Plans include:
1. Restoring 620 acres of lost Atlantic rainforest
2. Restoring carbon-storing peatlands
3. Improving heathland, thriving fells = more wildlife + biodiversity
4. Securing and protecting this open access land for all to enjoy
This project is not only close to my heart, but also on my doorstep. I made the beautiful Northern Fells region my home in 2020 and from the very beginning I wanted my small business to be a supporter of the vital work the Cumbria Wildlife Trust does.
Your candle can help
For every large, full priced candle sold through my online store I will donate £4 (when boxed) £5 (unboxed) to the Skiddaw Forest project. This money will go towards securing and maintain this special place so future generations can enjoy the wild beauty of the important region.
